A little note before we begin: these games are NOT in order. Not by date, ranking, or anything. Don't comment slandering the order of the games, because it was written so that none of the games would play favortism over the others. These 30 games are, however, the most bought, played, and highly reviewed games of 2012. Here you go.

1. Dragon's Dogma

From the creators of Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 4 arises this fantastic RPG, full of malicious slaying and adventure. GameSpot rated it an 8.0/10, while IGN gave it a 7.5. During just the first quarter, Dragon's Dogma racked up over a million sales worldwide, nearly exceeding expectations for Capcom.

The official website can give you a glimpse of everything you might be missing. With detailed, though tedious, landscapes and somewhat bizarre quest-related events (you fight a giant chicken at one point, for instance), this game is loved by the weird and easily entertained, and is a good game for anyone who loves a classic Japanese RPG. 2. Max Payne 3

Max Payne receives the highest ranking for Xbox 360 2012 games for GameSpot, being delivered a large 9/10, while MetaCritic gives it a 7.5, placing it sixth out of the top 25 games of the year. IGN gives it a 9 as well, which is actually saying something given IGN's harsh critiques for beloved games. In its first launch month in the US, Max Payne 3 racked in over 440,000 games sold, selling over 4 million in the past months since its release.

3. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

Collecting an overall user score rating of 8.3 on MetaCritic and a 9.0 on GameSpot, The Witcher 2 certainly deserves to be on this list. IGN even put it in its Biggest Xbox 360 Games of 2012. Not only that, but it made $1.7 million in sales in less than a year. This little sequel packs quite a punch.
4. Mass Effect 3

Coming in at number 3 with a 9.0 rating on GameSpot and placing 3rd on IGN's list, Mass Effect 3 really did a number as far as positive reviews and reaction goes. Of course, hitting 1.3 million in just the first month of it being released helps, too.

5. Kingdoms of Amalur: The Reckoning

Also featured on IGN's list of Biggest Xbox 360 Games of 2012 is not an RPG you want to miss out on. With people like Todd MacFarlane, Ken Rolston, and RA Salvatore having worked on the game, you know it's going to be good. The extensive GameSpot review tells more of the story, how good it is, and how you should go buy it as soon as possible, because you're obviously missing out.
6. The Walking Dead: Episode 2 - Starved for Help

Based on the hit TV show, The Walking Dead video game is full of suspense, not knowing what to expect next, and of course, zombies. However, this game defies the norm and isn't like every other zombie game on the market. It throws you a huge twist that I won't spoil here for you. Just don't miss out on this amazing game.

Really, the only thing wrong with this game is the wait time in between the next game -- because the suspense just might kill you first.
7. UFC Undisputed 3

Best-selling and critically acclaimed, this MMA fighting video game is full of violence and awe. It ranks in the top 25 of MetaCritic's Best Xbox 360 Games. Surely any fan of fighting games, MMA, or UFC will want and need this game. Don't miss your chance to have it in its official release year.
This is in no way the total number of best-selling games for 2012. Nor is it a complete comprehensive list of the highest ranked games. Rather, it's just an estimation that will possibly make you look up more games of 2012. You never know what you're missing until you go out and search for it.
